Nicholas family gives $50M for scholarships, 2nd largest gift of its kind at UW-Madison

The UW Foundation announced on Friday that the Nicholas family committed $50 million this week for scholarships to undergraduates, student-athletes and graduate students. The gift is the second-largest household gift in UW-Madison’s history, second only to the $100 million gift from John and Tashia Morgridge in December to help build faculty at the university.

Construction to hamper parking, traffic near Union Theater

Two monthslong construction projects will hamper traffic and parking near the Wisconsin Union Theater beginning this week, officials said. Wisconsin Union Theater spokeswoman Esty Dinur said the construction of an underground loading dock at Memorial Union and a city of Madison Langdon Street utility project will close UW-Madison’s Parking Lot 1 beginning Tuesday. Parking Lot 1 is off Langdon Street and adjacent to Memorial Union.

Tickets for Brett Favre Legends game at Camp Randall range from $34 to $55

Brett Favre’s Legends Game on July 19 at the Wisconsin Badgers’ home turf will feature former Packers Mark Chmura and Andre Rison and NFL players Donovan McNabb and Wisconsin great Ron Dayne in a flag football game between Packers old-timers and former gridiron greats from all over the league. Tickets, which go on sale June 3, will range from $34 to $55, with part of the proceeds going to the Favre 4 Hope Foundation. Tickets will also be sold in a family four pack for $112, which includes four tickets for seating in the $34 price level. Current UW-Madison students will be able to purchase two tickets at $13 each, also seating in the $34 price level.
