Pacemakers, the medical devices that help people maintain a consistent heartbeat, require both batteries for power and surgery if the batteries must be replaced.
But as part of a new study, published in the journal Science Advances, University of Wisconsin-Madison researchers developed a pacemaker solely powered by heartbeats, with the goal of reducing surgeries for upkeep.
