Efforts across the globe to kill gray wolves as a means of protecting domestic animals have had little to no known impact on preventing wolf-related deaths to livestock, according to a new study.
With Wisconsin in the midst of a yearslong debate over what protections, if any, should be applied to the estimated 1,200 gray wolves in the state, Adrian Treves, a professor of environmental studies at UW-Madison and co-author of the latest study, said his hope is the research helps guide public policy when the next debate over wolf populations arises.
