UW students face food insecurity as campus, community groups expand access

As the fall semester moves into full swing, food insecurity is an ever-increasing issue for University of Wisconsin students, with rates of food insecurity surpassing national averages by almost 7%, according to the UW Basics Needs Survey.

In an effort to mitigate this issue, the Office of Student Assistance and Support (OSAS) provides multiple services to UW students, especially in cases of immediate financial support with programs such as BadgerFARE, according to assistant director of OSAS Phillip Werman.
