UW Health has spent $140 million to expand its East Madison Hospital amid growth in surgeries and other patient care.
The new 120,000-square-foot wing will add inpatient space and surgical capacity.
The project increases the number of operating rooms from 14 to 20, the surgical pre-operation and recovery capacity from 23 to 60 patients and inpatient bed capacity from 84 to 98. The expansion is expected to lead to a 30% increase in the number of surgeries performed annually.
